Why an accurate diagnosis is important.

Information on the diagnosis of back pain

The diagnosis of back pain involves a combination of questioning, medical history and description of the pain. The patient must actively participate and answer the doctor’s questions as precisely as possible because, unlike other diseases, he does not have a variety of diagnostic devices available that could make clear statements. When diagnosing back pain, the aim is to analyze the causes of back pain, classify the severity of the back pain and find factors that would promote the development of chronic back pain. At the beginning, the anamnesis is about recording the manifestations of the pain. Common questions go towards

  • Localization of back pain;
  • Radiating back pain (to the side, above or below the knee);
  • Duration of current back pain;
  • Previous complaints and therapies;
  • Factors that serve as triggers or favor the development of back pain;
  • Severity of pain in various activities, concomitant illnesses or complaints;
  • Other aspects, such as those of a psychosocial nature (stress, stressful situations, etc.).

A final note:

Back pain usually has not one, but several, sometimes different causes. Conventional medicine is not a panacea and cannot include many things that may be relevant through diagnostics. There are cases where the understanding prevails that pain is an exclusively physical phenomenon and that physical illnesses are the cause – we now know that this is not true and that pain has a variety of causes, including and above all of a psychosocial nature. It should therefore always be taken with you common sense, whether a kind of “investigation marathon” actually makes sense. Generally, surgery is considered the only option for the back pain, but now there are many options where we can avoid surgery to prevent complications and can give better results. For examples                                  Transforminal Nerve Root Procedure Intradiscal Laser(RF) .. Dorsal Root ganglion stimulation , Racet Joint Injections and Laser(RF), Sacroiliac Joint Injections and Laser(RF)
